Rev. David Engel
Clinic President and Head Chaplain
In 1988, looking over a busy street in China, Dave noticed the faces of the many who had never heard of Christ. God called him to reach the unconvinced. Dave became a Christian as a teenager and grew in faith and leadership abilities through Campus Crusade for Christ.
Dave attended Denver Seminary and received a Master of Divinity in missions in 1995. He received the Outstanding World Christianity Student award at graduation.
Dave gained church-planting experience with South Hills Community Church during seminary. Dave traveled to Zimbabwe, Africa for Dave's seminary internship and ministered at a mission comprised of a Bible college and hospital. There Dave encountered holistic ministry as the Bible students shared about Christ with the hospital patients, and led daily services in the outpatient waiting area. Dave gained additional church-planting exposure as Pastor of Education and Equipping at Sun Valley Community Church in Gilbert, Arizona. He then joined the staff of the Christian Medical and Dental Association. As South Central Regional Director, Dave oversaw ministry to over 12,000 Christian doctors in seven states and led short-term medical mission trips to Central America. These short-term trips saw the tremendous success of holistic ministry. Over 1000 patients a week committed their lives to Christ through the medical team's outreach.
Through these experiences, Dave developed a vision for a similar ministry in the U.S. Dave established Hope Community Health Center, a medical clinic that reaches an underserved, multiethnic area of Chandler, Arizona. Rev. Engel utilizes the clinic to open the door to the gospel, to disciple new believers, and to hopefully plant a church. |
